The Birth of Sage | St. Mary’s Hospital | Vancouver Birth Photographer

There are no words to adequately describe the love and closeness shared by this couple.  Mike was in tune to Mary throughout the entire process.  Very few words were spoken- the music was soft & relaxing and the room was lit by candles and strings of christmas lights.  Between the intense surges she would look up at Mike, say a gentle hello and was instantly refocused.  It was a touching experience to be a part of.  Mary did everything right to prepare herself for a natural birthing experience.  She was armed with the knowledge to make informed decisions where her and her baby’s safety were concerned.  Mary laboured for over 21 hours and faced some of her biggest fears surrounding birth, but the love of her little one gave her the strength to conquer them.  Mary is a perfect example of a woman who has birthed without fear and everyone in the room was in awe of her strength.

The most important part of any story is how it ends, and this one ended with a beautiful healthy baby girl being placed in the arms of one of the strongest women I know.

Thank you Mary & Mike for welcoming me into this sacred place, and welcome to the world baby Sage I can’t wait to watch you grow! xx
